Brainstorming with Casey feels like discussing your favorite storyline with your best friend. She is so thorough in her note taking, and really challenges you in answering questions you may have never thought of. The brainstorming session that we did together was so amazing. She took my characters and found flaws that I hadn't thought about and then put everything together on an easy to read and understand document for me to go back to. My book is much more organized and I understand my characters better than I did before the session! When I get done writing it, I'll 100% be using her again.

I had been hammering away at a new story idea, but wasn't getting anywhere. I had hit a wall and was close to tossing the whole idea away. Then, I stumbled on a post for Inked Edits Developmental, and I decided to take a chance and book a call. It turned out to be a great decision! Casey was super personable, and she helped me flesh out the story in ways I had never thought of.

I didn't know when I wanted an editor, or if I even needed one. I started looking through FB groups and found Casey. She offered a sample edit of 1000 words to see if we would be a good match and a video call to further discuss afterword. After getting the edit, I knew I wanted her as my editor, and the video call just confirmed it.
She is working with me from the very beginning to make my book baby better. She makes suggestions I can keep or or disregard, but the thing I love is her suggestions bring new ideas that I turn into plots and make the story better. Her suggestions don't change my book at all; she doesn't try to bring her own words into my story or change my story, which I love. That was one thing I was worried about when looking for an editor, changing my voice and my story, and she doesn't do that.
She is so sweet and so kind and she does what a lot of editors don't offer: work with you on a payment plan. Editors can be pricey, and we can't all afford to drop hundreds of dollars, but Casey will work with you. I give her a chapter at a time, which works for me since I'm still writing my book, but if you're done with yours and have a time limit she will work something out.
She's amazing all around; she is a developmental editor, but one thing I love and very much appreciate is she corrects my grammar mistakes just to do it. I love her, and I promise you will too. She may be new to editing, but I'd hire her before she's too booked for anyone else, cause she will be I can tell you that.

Casey has been the perfect editor for someone like me (brand-new). I have been stuck re-reading lines to a point that they blend together, looking at my book as I used to look at the board in school, and like my optometrist, she provided me glasses.
She has worked with me on every step of my book and has been patient as I balance life and work in between editing sessions. Casey is absolutely AMAZING! She was very thorough when we originally talked and helped me understand her pricing and what each came with. It also was great to talk with her and get to know her before we even officially agreed, just to make sure we were a good fit. I was so lucky to find her when I did. I was able to work out a plan so I didn't have to pay so much up front and when I had a change in my life making a payment late she was so incredibly understanding.
When I got my edits back it was like a breath of fresh air. She gave me great critiques, making me notice where I made mistakes repeatedly (I use the word 'just' a lot haha!) and helped with my grammar which I'm not the best at. BUT she also gave me so much hype that I felt amazing with my characters and stories. I couldn't wait to get them all finished so I could share the story she helped me polish to get out into the world!

Working with Casey has been an absolute dream! She edited the first book I’d ever written as a new author. It is scary to allow someone else to read your book baby, knowing they are going to fill it with red lines, but Casey made the entire process amazing. She was able to help me fix plot issues, find better voices for my characters, and help me get rid of the white room syndrome in some of my chapters. She is honest in her edits, but always in a constructive manner with her midwestern kindness. She fully immersed herself into the world I’d created in my story and was able to see into my characters minds in the same way I did. She also makes sure you know this is your book and at the end of the day and it should be what you want it to be.
She is also the biggest cheerleader!! I loved the comments she made throughout my manuscript about lines she loved, cried, or laughed at. I had several chapters of my book done, and Casey broke down her thoughts so well for me. She gave such a perfect summary of each chapter and detailed thoughts. She was blunt, both about what worked and what she thought was good, and what needed work.
She was very enthusiastic, and gave such important information about everything from tone to characters, all of it. Some of it could be hard to hear, but she was always very purposeful and explained why her she gave her feedback.
Her positive feedback was so helpful too, I really feel as if she helped me find my author's voice. I have so much more confidence in my book and my writing ability after working with Casey. It's going to take more work than I expected, but I now know it will be so much better, and I will absolutely have Casey give another go-through when I am done.
I recommend her to anyone who is excited to work, but not sure how professional they are, and wants to find their voice.
